Aicard de Mercoeur
Created Saturday 15 March 2014
Aicard is a name that seems to need disambiguation in the Beaulieu documents, but may actually not. A full conspectus gives us the following, in Beaulieu:
- CLXXXVI (865, witness to comital family internal donation)
- LXVIII (865, witness to comital family donation of properties in le Vert to Beaulieu)
- III (866, witness to comital testament to Beaulieu of many properties)
- CLXVIII (868, soul-beneficiary of donation by one Bernard, his brother, of properties in Puy d'Arnac to Beaulieu)
- CXXXI (869, witness to donation of properties in Puy d'Arnac to Beaulieu)
- XXVII (870, advocate of Abbot Gairulf in hearing before Count Bernard of Toulouse over property at Cousages)
- CLXXV (885, witness to donation of properties in Castelnau and Auvergne to Beaulieu)
- CLXII (887, lead witness to donation by Unald of properties in le Vert to Beaulieu)
- CLXIII (887, 'de Mercoeur', lead donor in handover of properties given by Unald at le Vert to Beaulieu)
- CLXXVII (893, witness to donation of a church in Puy d'Arnac to Beaulieu)
- CLVI (893, witness to donation of a villa in Espagnac to Beaulieu)
- LXIV (904, donor of properties in Yssandon to Beaulieu)
One could, just about, make these all the same person, a comital follower whose brother and the comital family's own links to the monastery bring him into Beaulieu's orbit until he is working for them rather than the counts. That would be an interesting story if so! If he is at least the man of CLXVIII, then his father was called Andrald.
