Baseno
Created Wednesday 09 April 2014
Baseno seems to be a family name for one particular Beaulieu-connected kingroup. Persons of this name appear in the Beaulieu documents thusly:
- CXII (863, witness to donation of lands in Puy d'Arnac to Beaulieu)
- CLII (891, last witness to donation of land in Puy d'Arnac to Beaulieu)
- CLVII (899, almsman of Folcoald for property in Castelnau given to Beaulieu)
- CXXIX (915, witness to donation of property in Castelnau to Beaulieu)
- LX (916, husband of Elena, father of Baseno, Robert, Aicard, Ausbert and Ramnulf, donor to Beaulieu of lands in Castelnau)
- LX (916, son of Baseno and Elena, brother of Robert, Aicard, Ausbert and Ramnulf, witness to above donation by father)
- LVIII (943, wtness to donation of property in Puy d'Arnac to Beaulieu)
- LXXIV (954x67, witness to donation of property in Puy d'Arnac to Beaulieu)
- CXXVIII (988x93, previous owner of land in Puy d'Arnac)
- CXXXVIII (997x1031, dead, previous owner of land in Puy d'Arnac owned by monk Bernard)
- CLIV (1005x28, brother of the monk Bernard, previous owner of land in Puy d'Arnac)
The last five are pretty plainly all the same guy, and the third through fifth probably are, with the second possibly being that one or the first one. The son of the Castelnau guy seems not to recur; he cannot be the later Puy d'Arnac one, as Bernard is not named among his brothers nor are the others named among Bernard's relatives, and it would be a very long span anyway. I therefore isolate the man of Castelnau and Bernard's brother only.
