Bernard

Bernard was a monk of St-Pierre de Beaulieu, buying property that eventually comes to the monastery in his will. He shows up as follows, in Beaulieu:

CXXXVIII (997x1031, monk, buyer and neighbour of vine in Puy d'Arnac)
CXXXVII (997x1031, monk, buyer of property in Puy d'Arnac)
CLIV (1005x28, monk, brother of Baseno and Gauzfred, uncle of Bernard, testator of property in Puy d'Arnac and several other places inc. Casillac to Beaulieu).

Despite the wealth of family connections here, we can't actually link this family to any of the earlier occurrenbces of such names except Baseno's and even those are rootless. Nonetheless,
this Bernard seems more or less to have had the government of St-Pierre de Beaulieu in the wake of the death of Abbot Bernard II, and to have spent a lot of that time setting up and endowing the oratory of Notre Dame which is what principally brings him to our notice. The last occurrence however makes it clear that the abbey are not by any means preserving all of his documents!
