1st Nov 882, a gift by one Raoul son of Adalgar and Aiga, along with his wife Bertlindis, of properties in Cancel to St-Pierre de Beaulieu. Raoul is concerned about the approaching end of the world, or the scribe makes him so. He also says that his parents are buried at the monastery and that he also wishes to be, but that if the monks use the property for anything other than their own upkeep the gift will revert to his nearest kin. Raoul, his wife, his parents and his brothers Landric and Eldegar are all soul beneficiaries. There are quite a lot of witnesses; it's quite the big deal, it seems. All of this seems to justify Deloche's belief that this is the Viscount of Castelnau, although this is not said anywhere and there is another Raoul in the witnesses who is hard to distinguish from the Viscount's other appearances.
