Beaulieu LVI

Created Tuesday 15 April 2014

Nov. 923x35, a gift by Galfred and his wife Elisabet to St-Pierre de Beaulieu of the villa of Friac in all its detail (which explicitly includes granaries, not on the usual list) and its slaves, in such a way that Galfred, alone, holds the usufruct under a cens of a modius of bread and wine annually at 'mass-time', and the church of Strenquels, though this first goes to his son Galfred, reverting to his other son Guerno if Galfred should die heirless; if he does not, the monastery presumably never sees it at all! They do however get two more manses and a steading at Strenquels, and one of the manses has a castle on it! I'm not that can be more than a watch-tower, really. Dating of the charter is by King Raoul alone, with no regnal year, although there is a month!
