Adalgar
Created Saturday 15 March 2014
Adalgar is a common enough name in the Beaulieu documents to need disambiguation. Such men appear in Beaulieu:
- CLXXIX (868, witness to donation of land in Sérillac to Beaulieu)
- XVII (879x84, a priest witnessing a donation of properties in Bar to Beaulieu)
- XLV (880, donor with wife Aiga of lands in Castelnau to Beaulieu)
- LVII (882, late parent of Raoul, Landric and Eldaguer, buried in Beaulieu)
- CLXII (887, witness to donation of lands in le Vert to Beaulieu)
- CLXIII (887, lead witness to the actual hand-over of the above properties to Beaulieu)
- CLXIII (887, another witness to the same hand-over)
- CLXXVI (887, witness to a donation of lands in Argentat to Beaulieu)
- CLV (893, witness to a donation of property in le Vert to Beaulieu, 'Aldegar')
- CXLII (894, witness to a donation of properties in Puy d'Arnac to Beaulieu)
- LXXXVII (895, witness to a donation of property in le Vert to Beaulieu)
- XIII (897, episcopal scribe of the endowment of St-Christophe de Favars)
- LXIX (909, final witness of donation of properties in Puy d'Arnac to Beaulieu)
- LXXII (923, witness of donation of property in le Vert to Beaulieu)
To make all of these the same man is somewhat of a stretch, and there is no easy way to redate the last document, but excepting the first, the last and the scribe would give a reasonable career of appearances by a man whose Puy d'Arnac location obviously put him close to the abbey. The Castelnau guy is obviously a separate person.
