Sendar Doroon

Boyhood friend of Garion on Faldor's farm. Later moved to a farm on the other side of Winold, and eventually died when he drowned in the River Mardu at the Battle of Thull Mardu.

Tolnedran Dravor

Tolnedran nobleman, virtually a prisoner to Nyissan drugs administered by his steward Y'diss.

Alorn (Drasnian) Droblek

Enormously fat Drasnian Ambassador to Sthiss Tor, and employee of the Drasnian Intelligence Service.

Nadrak Drosta lek Thun, King of Gar og Nadrak

Thin, pockmarked, lecherous King of the Nadraks, who has, despite all appearances, a surprisingly acute political mind. He much prefers to maintain good relations with the Alorns than with his fellow Angaraks, defecting to the West in the middle of the Battle of Thull Mardu.

Sendar Durnik
(The Man with Two Lives)

A Sendarian blacksmith who lived and worked on Faldor's farm, right up to the point where he decided to go with "Mistress Pol" (Polgara), "Old Wolf" (Belgarath), and Garion to "protect" them from Brill, whom they knew to be chasing them. (Of course, Garion was really the one Brill was after.)

Durnik became a permanent companion of Garion and the others, and eventually ended up at Cthol Mishrak, where, in a misguided attempt to protect Polgara, he was killed by Zedar, the Apostate. After Garion slew Torak there in the City of Endless Night, the Gods permitted him - on Polgara's behalf - to raise Durnik from the dead, to be her husband. In the process, Durnik was granted the power of sorcery.

In the Malloreon, Durnik accompanied Garion on the quest for his son. By now quite well-developed in his use of sorcery, he defeated the Demon Lord Nahaz in Darshiva, and became the newest Disciple of Aldur. After the CHOICE, he and Polgara settled back in the Vale to raise their twin children.

"Always do the very best job you can," he said on another occasion as he put a last few finishing touches with a file on the metal parts of a wagon tongue he was repairing.

"But that piece goes underneath," Garion said. "No-one will ever see it."

"But I know it's there," Durnik said, still smoothing the metal. "If it isn't done as well as I can do it, I'll be ashamed every time I see this wagon go by - and I'll see the wagon every day!"

And so it went. Without even intending to, Durnik instructed the small boy in those solid Sendarian virtues of work, thrift, sobriety, good manners, and practicality which formed the backbone of the society.
