Guardians of the West -
A David and Leigh Eddings Website

Born in Spokane, Washington, in 1931, David Eddings was raised in the Puget Sound area north of Seattle. He graduated from Reed University, Oregon, in 1954 with a BA in English, did a stint in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, and received his MA from the University of Washington in 1961. For a time he worked variously as a grocery clerk, a buyer for Boeing, and a college-level English teacher, before finding his niche as a full-time author and working his way up to become one of today's best-selling fantasy authors with four tremendously popular series in the sword-and-sorcery mould. He died in June 2009; RIP.

Leigh Eddings contributed to most of David's books, and was later acknowledged as a co-author. She died in February 2007; RIP.
