Godfrid was the son of Count Godfrid of Turenne and Gerberga, first seen in our documents in 861 as a witness to a donation by the Turenne-family-connected priest Datbert (Beaulieu CLXXII), then receiving a substantial grant from his parents in 865 (Beaulieu CLXXXVI), probably as part of their disposal of lots of other property to Beaulieu in 866, which he also witnesses (Beaulieu III). After that he occurs four times more, as a witness to donations in 868 (Beaulieu CLXVIII) and 878 (Beaulieu XLVI) and lastly giving a church and other properties in Casillac in his own right to the monastery (Beaulieu CLXIX & XXIX). It's not clear that he ever gets the comital title, but he does hang out with counts as at his last donation Count Adhémar of Poitiers is present and named as soul beneficiary. Also in the last appearance we see Godfrid's wife, Godila.
