Beaulieu CLXIV

Created Saturday 19 April 2014

c. 971, a donation to St-Pierre de Beaulieu by Rigald and his son Gerald, for their own souls and those of their kinsmen Bernard, Guarin, Hugues and Bernard. They give the church of Cros-de-Montvert and five manses and two cottages with it, as well as a manse at le Caire, one at Manine which counts as Ste-Marie's glebe (suggesting that this is is the dedication of the church given), a demesne capmansio with a trellis and a meadow at le Laurent, another with an orchard and demesne trellises at Queyssac and a manse with various appurtenances at Cornil, all but the last of which Gerald retains for his life under a cens, 3 solidi from Cros-de-Montvert, 1 modius of corn from its manses, 2 sesters of wine from le Laurent and 6 denarii of wine from Queyssac; Cornil goes to the monastery as soon as either of the donors die, however. If the monks abstract it from the pious purposes of the donation, they get cursed and also the donors' nearest kinsman can buy it back for ten solidi.
