Gerald first appears in Beaulieu CIX of 968, where he is co-ruling St-Pierre de Beaulieu with his predecessor Abbot Guerno, but then goes on to appear in Beaulieu CXLVIII by himself before developing a coadjutor of his own, Adalguer, in Beaulieu XCVI, CLXIV & L, in the last of which they do big-scale estate reorganisation, dviding the monastery's properties into vicairies run by slave-vicars from Chameyrac. Adalguer doesn't seem to last, however, as by 975 in Beaulieu LXXV Gerald is showing up with an Abbot Calsto, in 984 with his brother Gerbert (Beaulieu CL) and the next year with Abbot Bernard II (Beaulieu LXXXV). That seems to be where he finally stops, the eight abbot of Beaulieu who outlasted the ninth, tenth and eleventh too.
