Robert of Turenne

Created Friday 07 March 2014

Robert was a son of Count Raoul of Turenne and Aiga, and thus brother to Archbishop Raoul of Bourges, Count Godfrid of Turenne and Abbess Immena of Sarrazac. He is first seen consenting to a gift to Sarrazac in 844 (Beaulieu XXXIV), which he also witnessed, and appeared again as a witness to brother Raoul's dealings in 856 (Beaulieu XVI) but by 860 seems to have been dead, as his widow Rotruda made a gift to St-Pierre de Beaulieu of land in Billac for his soul (Beaulieu XIX & CLXXX), land moreover that previously been sold to Raoul as Abbot of Solignac. A complicated family management of land is visible here. Robert's totality of appearances is Beaulieu XXXIV, XVI, XIX, CLXXX & XXI.
XIX names his and Rotruda's children as Drogo and Robert.
