Apr. 984, a donation to St-Pierre de Beaulieu prompted by the end of the world's rapid approach, as a result of which the brothers Ratbod and Étienne give to Beaulieu (here SS Pierre & Benoît!) a substantial property at l'Ouradour whose bounds have to be expressed geographically, several of which refer to the church of St-Baudile there. Everything within the bounds is given except the manses belonging to the capmansio, which is itself however given. To this are added two vines at 'Lavastra' with two named workers each of whom are handling three denariatae. Of this the l'Ouradour property is to be held for life by one of their sons, Rigald (it is not said whose he is) under a cens of two modios due on Martinmas, and the 'Lavastra' stuff is to be held by two twins both called Gerald (!) under a cens of a modius of nuts! Both grants revert to the monastery on those mens' deaths. The sanctio is very fierce, damning infringers not just with Datan and Abiron but with Judas, Herod, Julian, Nero and Simon, and even then going on for several more clauses about how awful that will be. The regnal date is given in words, too, twice ten and five; this scribe fancied himself. The fact that both abbots witness, one being the short-lived coadjutor Gerbert, probably related to this family given their fondness for the name, may have something to do with this...
