St Totteringham's Day was the day when Arsenal fans celebrate the fact that Tottenham can no longer catch Arsenal in the League. It is a movable feast, but usually falls in March, April or May. It was the day to collect on bets made by over-optimistic Spurs fans in the close season who think that "this is the year".

Next match is vital: Spurs away

Being honest if we have any chance of a St T's this year we simply have to win at White Hart Lane next weekend. Given the nature of the 5-2 win earlier this season, and our performance against Villa yesterday, our best hope would be if another Spurs player behaves like Adebyaor did and gets themself red carded early on.

If that doesn't happen it could be grim.

In the meantime we need West Ham to beat Spurs on Monday. If they do then we can overhaul them by winning at their place. Which would be very pleasant, if unlikely. Best case is we'll be two ahead with 10 to go.

If on the other hand West Ham fold against Spurs, and we lose at the lane, then the worst case is Spurs being seven ahead with ten to play. Thats a big gap. (It's what QPR have to overcome to catch Wigan and Villa.)

Not impossible, but we rely (again) on a Spurs meltdown.

Still some consolation: we did win the League at WHL in '71 and '04. Which means we've won it at their place as many times as they've won it at all.
