St Totteringham's Day is the day when Arsenal fans celebrate the fact that Tottenham can no longer catch Arsenal in the League. It is a movable feast, but usually falls in March, April or May. It is the day to collect on bets made by over-optimistic Spurs fans in the close season who think that "this is the year".

Swansea outplay us with Manchester United up next

So a woeful performance in South Wales provides us with the perfect warm up for the visit of Manchester United. The only breath of fresh air about the coming weekend is that it might genuinely mark a turning point in Spurs' season: expect them to be thumped at the Moneybags Stadium.

We, on the other hand, are in great shape to get revenge on the 8-2 mauling back in August.

You didn't believe that did you? I am worried that it might be worse than the League Cup match back on 28 November 1990 when a Lee Sharpe (!) inspired Manchester United tonked us 6-2. At least that year we did a league double over Man U on the way to winning the league (one defeat that year, at Stamford Bridge). I was at that match and it was ... awful.

Table time: As of 16 January 2012:
    GamesPointsPoints behind(games left)(max points)
    Spurs214617
    Arsenal213610(17)(87)

Ten points is 4 games. One of those is head-to-head, but it is still a massive gap. Don't think I'll do another table until February unless something radical happens.

Update:I fixed a mistake in the table above.
