St Totteringham's Day was the day when Arsenal fans celebrate the fact that Tottenham can no longer catch Arsenal in the League. It is a movable feast, but usually falls in March, April or May. It was the day to collect on bets made by over-optimistic Spurs fans in the close season who think that "this is the year".

Earliest and latest St Ts this year?

I think the time has come to look at what might happen over the next few matches as I guess most of the visitors to this site want the answer to the question "When will St Totteringham's day happen?"

The earliest it can be is after Arsenal play Stoke on 28th April. That will be St Totteringham's day provided that Arsenal beat Wigan, Chelsea and Stoke, and assuming QPR beat Spurs.

If one part of that doesn't happen, then theoretically Blackburn could cause St Totteringham's on 29th April if they win at White Hart Lane.

My guess would be a May date for St Totteringham's: I think Spurs will suffer a draw or defeat at some point, and three wins from our run in doesn't look unlikely. I'll look in more detail at those possibilities after the next few matches.

Of course it should be emphasised that St Totteringham's day 2012 could still be cancelled: nothing is certain yet. After all you need a lead of, ooh, ten points to be sure of beating your rivals.
