Guarner

A person called Guarner appears as witness in the following charters: Beaulieu CLXXXV, XX, XVI, CLXXXIII, CLXXIX, CLXII & CXL. This is however a seventy-year spread, so these cannot all be the same person. Furthermore, the first three appearances are connected with Sarrazac and feature Guarner early in the witness list, whereas all the rest concern property all over the place being given to St-Pierre de Beaulieu and he features close to or at the end of the witness list. I therefore hypothesize two Guarners:

• Guarner of Sarrazac seen in Beaulieu CLXXXXV, XX & XVI (823-856), who may have been a follower of the comital family of Turenne; and
• Guarner of Beaulieu seen in Beaulieu CLXXXIII, CLXXIX, CLXII & CXL (860-893).
