May 917, a donation by Austen to St-Pierre de Beaulieu conveying three manses at Septaubre, three manses at Pers, one at Queiroles, one at Fraissinet, one at Fargues that has a trellis that is worth also mentioning, a manse and a capmansio at Roucoule, a capmansio at Astaillac with attached lands Austen inherited (from his mother, we must assume, since his father was still showing up the previous year) and three manses at la Geneste, fourteen in all therefore. All the manses have named tenants, and Austen retains their usufruct for life under a pretty paltry cens of four denarii; the monastery only get all this if he dies heirless, and even then have to fork over 130 solidi for his soul, a difficult condition to understand—to allow his kin to make gifts elsewhere for it? All in all this is not the most generous and pious donation ever despite its size!
