A man named Matfred occurs in Beaulieu CXXX, XLIII, CLXXVII & XXXVIII, and unusually we can say a bit about him: in the first (885) he appears as lead witness to a donation to St-Pierre de Beaulieu by Frotar the later Viscount of Cahors, and in the second (887) it is made clear that this is because he is Frotar's brother, thus also presumably son of Frodino and Hildegard; he consents to that, witnesses the third (893) where he appears to have no special connection to the donors or area (and this link might therefore be doubted but the name doesn't occur otherwise) and in the last (926) his will is being carried out by Aitrudis and her son Étienne, who state no relation to him but dispose of property in Bonneviolle, Félines and Pauliac to Beaulieu for his soul.
