Beaulieu XXXVIII

Created Tuesday 15 April 2014

Apr. 926, a bequest to St-Pierre de Beaulieu by Aitrudis and her son Étienne, on behalf of Matfred of the chapel of St-Pierre de Bonneviolle, which comes with a demesne 'bacallaria', a meadow and a demesne 'brolio' as well as four manses. The soul beneficiary here is not said to be the missing father figure here but our only known Matfred would certainly fit with such a role. Two further alods are then subjoined, in Félines and at Cabres, expressly to pay for church lighting, and which if used for any other purpose are to revert to one of Aitrudis's sons, though Étienne remains the only one named. There are no witnesses listed. This document is the last appearance of Abbot Raoul in his first abbacy.
