Dorchester South is one of two stations in Dorchester, and is on the main line between London Waterloo and Weymouth. The other station, Dorchester West is only a short walk away and serves the Heart of Wessex Line between Castle Cary and Weymouth.
The station building at Dorchester South is new, dating from the 1980s:
As this crest and sign at the station indicate, the station building was built by Eldridge Pope and Co., once a nearby brewery:
Although Eldridge Pope's days as a brewery ended in 2004, the name lives on both as a pub company and as a wine merchants, seen here nearby the station approach road:
