We visited Castle Cary on a warm May day. The station is a mile or so from the town, so although the station is on the Great Western main line it has the feeling of being very much in the middle of nowhere.

Towards the eastern end of the station a modern footbridge links platform 1 to the island platforms and to the other side of the station, where a footpath leads to the town of Castle Cary itself:
