Regional

Germany has a federal system of government, with responsibilities for many aspects of policy devolved to the level of the Land (i.e. state or region; plural Länder). This includes public transport, especially local rail services. In various parts of Germany, individual routes or groups of services have been contracted out by the Land government to operators other than DB. Timetable information is available through the DB website, but details of engineering works may be provided only on the relevant operator's own website.
