Sal·la, Bishop of Urgell

Created Thursday 02 May 2013

Sal·la was Bishop of Urgell from 981 to 1010; he appears as Archdeacon there already in 974 (in Urgell 168). He was son of Viscount Isarn of Conflent and Urgell and Viscountess Ranló, and therefore brother to Viscount Bernat of Conflent and uncle to his own successor, St Ermengol, whose succession he arranged firstly by buying the approval of Count Ermengol I of Urgell and secondly by making his nephew co-adjutor (in HGL V 146).
