Ratbod was a member of a family who appear in detail in the Beaulieu documents, though he himself only appears in Beaulieu LXXI & LXXXIX, and only in the former of these in his own right, giving several manses in Chauvac to St-Pierre de Beaulieu to support his kninsman Guinebert in a clericatus they will apparently administer. The unusual name however makes it likely that he is the man named in the latter document as brother to Étienne, uncle to another Ratbod and kinsman to another Étienne, though any further links would be pure hypothesis. That is, however, enough to make it clear that by the terms involved there he must at that uncertain date be a monk of Beaulieu.
