Étienne was the son of an elder man of the same name who held land widely in areas near the abbey of St-Pierre de Beaulieu; our Étienne seems to have acquired interests mainly in Puy d'Arnac. He was brother to Ratbod and cousin to another Étienne, son of his uncle Hugues, and the two Étiennes appear together several times. As far as can be told, therefore, this one occurs in Beaulieu CL & LXXXV.
