zram-tools: Please provide a startup script for installations not using systemd

What is preventing the inclusion of the init script proposed by gregor
herrmann in early 2021?
I got bitten recently, not noticing that my system no longer had any
swap since I migrated away from systemd. This led a couple days ago to
an unusable system because of RAM saturated by tmpfs mountpoints, without
any swap to unload it.
Thankfully I had a physical access to that server, otherwise it could
have stayed in that state indefinitely.
If the only reason to not include this init script is a lack of
motivation to maintain it, with this e-mail I volunteer to co-maintain
zram-tools, more specifically its compatibility with non-systemd setups.
