Thanks to all those who voted in the first, second and third votes for deciding on a new name for the Usenet newsgroup alt.comp.hardware.homebuilt. If you haven't seen them, the results can be found here and the list of initial choices for the first vote here.
Update: 23 May 1998
As a result of this, the group name comp.arch.homedesigned was chosen, which was modified to comp.arch.home-designed when it went to RFD (Request for Discussion). After suggestions in the RFD process, a second RFD was issued with the revised name comp.arch.hobbyist, which is now (May 1998) in discussion. The RFDs can be found here.
Update: 5 July 1998
The proposal for comp.arch.hobbyist went to CFV, and the vote passed, 199 votes to 15. The final vote results can also be found here. comp.arch.hobbyist should now be available on your news server.
I'd like to thank everyone who helped in the pre-RFD stage, everyone on the mailing list who helped in the long months spent drafting and tweaking the RFD (to name a few Jan-Derk Bakker, Randy Gardner, Darren Guiden, Leon Heller, Ales Hvezda, Mark Sokos, Ian Stirling and Ben Stuyts), those who made useful comments as a result of the first and second RFDs, and those who voted in the final CFV.
