Kirkham and Wesham is the point where the two lines on the Fylde peninsula diverge, one heading to Blackpool North and one to Blackpool South. The station building has an entrance at the level of the road bridge which crosses the line:
The station is to the east of the road. First, we look west from the road bridge at the diverging lines:
The rear of the station building from platform level:
The (modern) road bridge seen from the platform:
Looking west along the line under the other bridge span:
The single, two-faced, island platform is long. It starts with some simple benches:
Then there is a covered shelter, as can be seen in this view of platform 1:
And then some planters and shrubberies:
Looking east from this point along platform 2 there's still more:
A station building sits in the middle of the platform which turns out to be a Network Rail depot:
But wait, there's more. A hedge arch, beyond the building. As far as I could tell the blue door was no portal of unearthly delight:
And more. Planters with shrubs, though at this point the platform itself is a bit green too:
And by the end of the platform it's lumpy and grassy. Looking back west at the station:
But we've reached the end! We can look east with a sense of achievement and a long walk back to the civilised end of things to catch a train:
