Histon station is a closed station on the old railway line from Cambridge to St Ives and Huntingdon. Passenger services ceased in 1970, although freight kept the line open until 1992. In spite of a spirited campaign to reopen it for passenger services, the line is now likely to be converted to an unpopular Guided Busway, and the station demolished to make way for a car park.
I passed the station on an early July evening on the way to visit some friends in Girton. First sight of the station from across the road:
