Ranguis

Created Friday 18 April 2014

A woman named Ranguis appears twice in the Bealieu documents, unusually for any woman there, in the first case as one of the almsmen of Guallo with Robert 'the old count' in Beaulieu CVIII and then as wife of Gauzlin in Beaulieu CXLIX. There isn't really a good reason to suppose a link here except that Gauzlin's witnesses appear to include two of the vicecomital brothers who show up in so much in the early tenth century at Beaulieu, so that I wonder if Ranguis is in fact one of Robert's daughters who links this family in by her marriage.
