Apr. 939, a donation to St-Pierre de Beaulieu by Gauzbert, probably the vicecomital one since one of his brothers, Adhémar, appears to be a neighbour, of a demesne manse with a vineyard and a meadow plus lands at Branceilles, of which only the vine gets boundaries given and the last two of those are on public roads while one is on land that already belongs to Beaulieu, then a capmansio with a vine that also bounds public roads on its latter two sides at Miliata and demesne lands at 'Causeno', which again bound on public roads on their last two sides. A man named Raganfred owns land in the edge of both the first and third properties, and Adhémar is represented on the edge of the third by his slaves, rather than himself. All this is given for Gauzbert's own soul, his father's and mother's, his late son Gauzfred's and his (living) son Gauzbert's, helpful in getting the family sorted out, and all is held back in usufruct by Gauzbert under a tiny cens of 2 denarii due on St Peter's Day. The penalty clause specifies payment in talents, and there is a reversion clause in the case of alienation in which the nearest son or kinsman of the donor buys the properties back for 100 solidi. There are no witnesses. We are now dating by King Louis IV.
