For the moment, I'm only putting up things that are complete (or short sections of things that are complete, in the case of Revenant). Most of my writing time is currently divided between two novel-length projects, neither of which is yet ready for any kind of public display. However, when I feel like doing something else, writing thousand-word pieces doesn't take very long, so there'll probably be new random things up here fairly frequently. (Said he optimistically, back in 2001. This has singularly failed to happen, although there are a number of things that will go up sooner or later.
Most of the things here are available as either raw text or html. Your browser should be capable of displaying either version, although the html will probably use a font that's easier to read. The text version, on the other hand, can be loaded into your word-processor or dtp package of choice (for easier formatting, or more attractive printed versions - permission is granted to print one copy only for your own private reading; redistribution in any form is not allowed without my written permission).

Revenant is a conspiracy-thriller set around the present time. Unknown to most governments, a great deal of actual world power has long been shared between "Inkara", an underground army dedicated to protecting human civilisation, and the mysterious Clan - a seemingly random assortment of businessmen, politicians and others with no apparent aims of any kind. The two groups, safe in their assumptions of power, are shocked by the sudden reappearance of their ancient common enemy, known to have been destroyed more than a hundred years ago....
Sorry, no sections of the current draft of Revenant are available at present, as my arms are giving too much trouble to mess around converting the html versions. In any case, while I'm quite happy with most of the existing draft, the beginning of the book (ie, the part that I'd be likely to put up here) is in need of a little more work to make it consistent with what comes after.
Written because I was in that kind of mood, and had often wondered what the great wizards of classic fiction would make of newer versions.... It was subsequently published in the anniversary (Hilary 2000) edition of Miruvor, the magazine of Taruithorn.
I wanted to test my newly acquired speech-recognition software, and see how good it really was. But I felt silly sitting in a room talking to no-one, so I got self-referential to see if it helped.
