+

+> To the provisional leadership of the House Ex Miscellanea, Alexios Kaloethes of the Schola Pythagoranis sends his respectful greetings.

+> For the last 10 years, I have ranked as a full member of your worshipful house and before that, for many years as an apprentice. For all this time, I have been grateful to the House for my existence as a wizard; were it not for the kindness and forbearance that you showed my parens so many years ago, I would never have discovered my Gift and most likely would have died besides my wife and child in Constantinople.

+> My life has been enriched beyond measure by the opportunities provided to me as a result of the decisions of House Ex Miscellanea. Now one of these opportunities beckons me and it is one that I find myself unable to pass up.

+> I do not have the hubris to believe myself to be well known in the house so you probably will not know my research interests well. In short, much of my interest stems in the interplay between the art that is the birthright of all magi and the power that talent offers to an artist. The philosophical precedents of this, I will not bore you with although if any of you wish to correspond further on the matter, I am always delighted to do so. However, as you probably are aware, the interests and research of much of House Jerbiton lies in this sphere as well. I have been corresponding on this matter for a while with one of the senior members of this House. In short, I have been offered membership in their society and believe their viewpoints and interests align more closely with my own than that of House Miscellanea.

+> As such, I must offer you with my thanks, my regretful resignation from the House Ex Miscellanea as of my joining with the Societas of Jerbiton. I leave with regrets and my deepest respect to you all but feel that I must follow my heart in this matter.
