## Summary
-*Sir William Cromwell comes looking for Fergus thinking he might have eloped with Elaine. However in fact she has been kidnapped by the Thorn Devils of the Fens. The magi defeat these in pitched battle and rescue some humans. Elaine has been throw into a well as a sacrifice though so the magi follow. They find themselves in a magic realm not faerie. There they discover Elaine as well as an entire village of stranded humans and communicate with the genius loci of the forest who has under his care a grove of trees that a great work by some incredibly powerful Mage who recorded her knowledge in the trees. Tanis convinced the forest spirit to let the mages go and to allow them cuttings from two of the trees. The mages bind themselves with a mighty oath not to try to return or to tell others of the Gove and are allowed to leave. They find themselves at the base of a waterfall in the Black Forest, about 40 miles from Durenmar ]]
