  14 It is unlikely that any are to be encountered in the populated parts
  15 of Anglia, unless eminating from a reclusive saint or a lost relic.

  20 Most churches, chapels, and graveyards have an aura of 4, rising to 5
  21 at the altar(s).  Large churches and cathedrals are 5, but Cambridge
  22 has none of these.  St Paul's in London might be a 6.  The Church of
  23 the Holy Sepulchre in Cambridge (The Round Church) is also a 5; Edward
  24 suspects that it has a genuine relic causing this.

  26 Parts of the town will typically be around 2 or 3 depending on the
  27 faithfulness of the inhabitants, workplaces being lower than
  28 residences; the fields outside of the town will typically be 1.

  30 Anywhere out of sound of the church bells is likely to be outside the
  31 Aura.

  33 All of these numbers are reduced by one at night, and by another one on
  34 the eve of a major holiday.

  48 The base level of the aura surrounding the Jewish people is 1.  This
  49 applies in the area around where they live and work; particularly in
  50 any area recognised as a "Jewry" or "Jewish Quarter".

  82 Infernal Auras come about as a result of sin, or by action of the
  83 Infernal powers.  Unless something really significant has occured to
  84 create a large aura then they'll usually be hidden beneath the
  85 Dominion Aura in towns during the daytime, but they:

  87 Gain a point at night, and additionally on any unholy day (All
  88 Hallow's Eve).

  90 In Christian Lands they gain a point on the Wednesday before Easter
  91 until Dusk on Good Friday.  After that they temporarily die down to
  92 zero until Easter Monday then regain their strength over the next
  93 week.

  95 In Jewish communities they lose one point on the Sabbath provided
  96 everyone is observing the Sabbath.

  99 Faerie Auras

 102 Faerie Auras occur where there are faeries.  Or maybe the other way
 103 around.  They're a bit hard to predict because their waning and waxing
 104 depend on the faeries within them.

 106 A lot of Britain outside the Dominion is fae -- the fens, the moors,
 107 the dark forests, and the great waterways.  In particular if you're
 108 anywhere where humans rarely but sometimes go then there might well be
 109 a faerie there.

 115 Magic Auras exist for a number of reasons:

 117 * Natural Magic (e.g. an ancient copse that isn't faerie)
 118 * Ancient Man-made things that have been associated with magic for a
 119   long time
 120 * The residues of old powerful magical workings
 121 * Presence of magical beings
 122 * Vis
 123 * More complicated reasons close to "feng shui" can cause small
 124   pockets of magical aura even within a city

 126 Casting magic within an aura and using vis in it tends to strengthen
 127 in.  Extracting vis tends to weaken it.
