Entirely automatic conversion, using the following Perl rune:

  perl -i~ -pe 's#^(\s+)(\w+)=safe_malloc\(sizeof\(\*\2\),"[^"]+"\);$#$1NEW($2);#' *.c conffile.fl conffile.y
