Debian Bookwork: /lib/lsb/init-functions

Hello,

I'm trying to make my existing initscripts more standards conformant and seek some guidance when to use which output function defined in /lib/lsb/init-functions. That file is part of the sysvinit-utils package, and the accompanying directory in /usr/share/doc doesn't contain anything helpful.

May I kindly ask how developers should learn how to properly use those many logging functions?

If there is no documentation, I'd have to gnaw through the code to deduce this myself to by best abilities. :-)
