Upholland is a bit left out as a station. It's neither in the Merseyrail area so wasn't covered by our railcard when we visited there, nor is it in the Greater Manchester Traincard area. But we visited it anyway...
The entrance to platform 1, for trains westwards, is through this metal arch on Pimbo Lane:
