Add a bus station to a railway station and lo, you have an interchange. Barnsley Interchange is in two halves: a modern curved bus station and a slightly older railway station, connected with a tubular bridge.
This is the entrance to the bus station side of the interchange:
This statue, to the memory of those who died in various mining disasters, stands in front of the building:
To the right of the entrance we can see the tubelike bridge leading to the rail station half of the complex and then the railway bridge which bridges the tracks:
And the tracks are crossed by a road just south of the front of the interchange entrance:
Inside the concourse, which has the bus stands and waiting areas on the right and shops on the left. The upper level leads to the bridge to the railway station:
The western entrance to the interchange building:
Escalators lead up to the upper level:

Inside the tube which crosses the bus parking to the railway station:
And we're now in the railway station which is slightly older and more angular than its bus-oriented partner:
To our left these steps lead down to platform 2, for trains north to Huddersfield and Leeds:
Metal artwork hangs in the stairwell (with the tube and bus station in the background):

On platform 2, we look north along the line:

Further south along platform 2 we look north at the platform canopies and footbridge:
From the south end of platform 2, this view shows the tubular and new bridges:
Looking south towards the level crossing, with a flat path on the right leading to the street:
Metal artworks adorn the fence next to platform 2:
Back up in the footbridge we look south towards the level crossing:
The bridge leads to platform 1 and steps down (with more art):
Looking up the steps from ground level:

The sliding doors onto platform 1 seen from platform 2:
It'd started to rain by this point so I tried to hide as much as a could under the platform canopies! Looking south along platform 1 under the canopy:
Metallic dragon artwork on platform 1:
Platform 1 buildings are clearly the front of the railway station even if they're the rear of the whole interchange:
