I Will Not Weep

I will not weep at every bitter word
That from those sweetest lips shall emanate,
My sorrows will not by your ears be heard -
I will curse neither Providence or Fate.
I will not gaze with longing on your face,
Nor will I dream of happinesses past;
Or let my foolish grudges take the place
Of joy at seeing you content at last.
And when your beauty lights my way again
I will not let my former feelings rise;
I will not mar your love with my dark pain,
No brokenhearted tears will fill my eyes.
All these things will be, just as I say,
If I live not to see another day.
