Divine Auras
============

It should be noted that all divine auras affect people inside them
similarly -- you can't detect the difference between, e.g., a Christian and
Jewish aura experimentally.

Empyreal
--------

Empyreal auras are Divine auras caused by things other than worship.
It is unlikely that any are to be encountered in the populated parts
of Anglia, unless eminating from a reclusive saint or a lost relic.

Dominion: Christian
-------------------

Most churches, chapels, and graveyards have an aura of 4, rising to 5
at the altar(s). Large churches and cathedrals are 5, but Cambridge
has none of these. St Paul's in London might be a 6. The Church of
the Holy Sepulchre in Cambridge (The Round Church) is also a 5; Edward
suspects that it has a genuine relic causing this.

Parts of the town will typically be around 2 or 3 depending on the
faithfulness of the inhabitants, workplaces being lower than
residences; the fields outside of the town will typically be 1.

Anywhere out of sound of the church bells is likely to be outside the
Aura.

All of these numbers are reduced by one at night, and by another one on
the eve of a major holiday.

They are increased by one on Sunday, and by another one on major
holidays (Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Easter, Pentecost, All Saints'
Day, Christmas, Epiphany).

The aura is particularly week during the period including December
28th and January 1st; a reduction of 1 and Faerie and Magically
aligned powers take no penalties (they might take penalties from an
overlapping Jewish aura however).

Dominion: Jewish
----------------

The base level of the aura surrounding the Jewish people is 1. This
applies in the area around where they live and work; particularly in
any area recognised as a "Jewry" or "Jewish Quarter".

Inside the buildings and land of a faithful household this is
increased by 1, and an additional 1 if they are very pious.

Inside the Synagogue it is increased by 3, plus an extra one on the
Bimah.

On major feast days (Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Shmini Atzeret,
Simchat Torah, Hanukkah, Purim, Pesach, Shavout, Tish'a B'Av) there is
an increase of two.

On the sabbath (Friday sunset to Saturday sunset) there is an increase
of two; provided noone who worships at the nearest Synagogue is
breaking the sabbath.

On minor holidays (Tu Bishvat, Purim Katan, Pesach Sheni, Lag B'Omer,
Leil Selichot) there is an increase of one.

You will note that outdoors the effects of this will be swamped by the
Christian aura usually.

Dominion: Other
---------------

Worship of in other monotheistic religion will also create a Dominion
Aura; but any such is uncommon and localized within the British Isles.
