The main site is on a piece of land approximately 300’ wide along
Northampton Street extending to and including Bin Brook (about 400').
In addition the Benefice of St Peter has a stripe of land between
Northampton Street and Castle Street (with an inn in the surrounded
corner).

There is a low circular berm across the whole width of the site to
protect it from floods. On
the north side a short causeway connects the berm to the street for
access and on the south-east side there is a (very deep) well in the
berm and a pier
extends all the way to the brook.

The main building is about 66’ x 33’ x 20+’ with two stories and a
loft room. The Mercere House is to the west of it and most of the
other buildings are to the south and east.

To the northeast (along Northampton Street) is housing; on the other
side is animal grazing.
