Being a letter to Georgios of Bologna about a book in a strange script.

From Alexios, Spring 1222:
> To Doctor Georgios Herodontes of Bologna, His filii Alexios of the Schola Pythagoranis sends his affectionate respect.

> I trust you are well. As I mentioned a while ago, I have been much engaged in a project of great interest and value which I look forward to sharing the fruits of soon.

> While the copiers are working however, I was reminded of another puzzle that has baffled I and my compatriots. One of my sodales found a text in a language none of us recognise. The script appears to be Arabic in derivation but I am not convinced the language is Arabic and the script is not exactly right either.

> I enclose a copy of the first page of the book and wondered if you recognised the script or language or whether any of our colleagues in the University did? Doctor Paolo Cellini came to mind as did Magister Benedetto Urbano but there are probably others as well who might be of assistance.

> I remain, sir, your affectionate compatriot, student and friend, Alexios.
