From ijackson at chiark.greenend.org.uk Mon Jan 23 17:45:06 2017 From: ijackson at chiark.greenend.org.uk (Ian Jackson) Date: Mon, 23 Jan 2017 17:45:06 +0000 Subject: GNU userv 1.2.0 Message-ID: <22662.16674.536704.766545@chiark.greenend.org.uk> -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 I am pleased to announce the release of GNU userv 1.2.0. userv (pronounced you-serve) is a program which, according to the specification, is a Unix system facility to allow one program to invoke another when only limited trust exists between them. Its slogan is: _Put the security boundary where it ought to be._ It is a tool for system administrators, who often find themselves with a program running as one user which needs to be able to do certain things as another user. It is also a component for application authors who wish to do what is now known as `privsep', using a process call interface. For more information about userv, please see one of: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~ian/userv/ This release fixes some fairly minor bugs. Also, the licence has been upgraded to GPL3+. The files are available here: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~ian/userv//ftp/ (Unfortunately the GNU mirror network and the web page on www.gnu.org have not yet been updated.)
