Beef stew
Ingredients
- Meat - e.g. stewing beef - cubed
- Root vegetables - e.g. carrot, swede, parsnip
- Onion
- Stock
- Bay leaves and optionally other herbs
- (Optional) Beer or wine
Method
- Cut up the onion coarsely
- Dice or slice the root veg as desired
- Flour the meat (roll in flour, or shake in plastic bag)
- Brown the meat in a frying pan
- Make up stock
- Transfer meat to casserole dish; add veg, herbs, beer/wine, stock to cover.
- Cook for 2-3h at GM5/190C.
- Serve with starch of choice
