Wakefield Kirkgate was the starting point for day four of our adventures in West Yorkshire, but it's a dilapidated and desolate place, in strong contrast to Wakefield Westgate. A long view of the front of the station:
A closer view of the entrance:
The eastern end of the station building, windows all boarded up, seen from the bus stop:
The western end of the station building:
The doorway leads through an entrance hall (filled with scaffolding) onto platform 1. Here we look back through the entrance hall to the station entrance to the north:
On platform 1, under the canopy:

Platform 1 seen from platform 2 opposite, with the entrance under the central window:
The rear of the entrance to platform 1:
Platform 1 continues eastwards alongside a covered subway, but the end of the platform is fenced off:
Turning 180 degrees we enter the subway which joins platform 1 to the island platforms 2 and 3:
The view out of the subway, with the demolition sign mentioned previously visible in the distance:

The buildings at the eastern end of the station:
The subway leads out onto platform 2:
On platform 2, looking westwards, with the subway entrance in the distance:
The eastern end of platform 2 is fenced off, and the remains of a glazed canopy stand rusting forlornly beyond:
The skeletal canopy continues on the platform 3 side of the island, here looking eastwards:
