Hiya peeps.

I've just returned from France, where I stayed with my host family
(whom I hadn't seen for nearly three years) and met Caomhin (whom
I had never seen before).  The trip was wonderful.

However, upon coming back to the United States I received the news
that my dearest, oldest friend, whom I have known for 9 years, has
been murdered.

Her name is Emily Howell.  She and another friend were in Costa
Rica for the semester.  They went to a bar for the evening and
were evidently kidnapped, raped, executed, and dumped by the side
of the road 10 miles from town.

Emily was my pen pal, and our friendship is a testament to the
fact that you don't have to see someone every day to be close.  I
love her, and I don't know a more beautiful or sensitive or
expressive person in the world.

Even though none of you knew her, I'm asking you to remember her.
Remember that a beautiful young woman named Emily, who was to be
twenty years old tomorrow (Monday, March 20), died far from home.

Thank you for your attention and memory.  Hugs, flowers, and
chocolates are welcome; since they're all virtual, I'm sure they
can go to her just as well as to me.
