On the day that Peter Carey was announced to have won the Booker Prize again for True History of the Kelly Gang, I happened to see a copy of Oscar and Lucinda for sale in Oxfam, and decided that if a man had won two Booker Prizes he must be worth reading, so bought the novel. A few days later J-P asked for opinions on Peter Carey, and, as yet having none, I decided to read Oscar and Lucinda next so that I would be able to offer something of an opinion.
