I bought it years ago, along with several other books that I felt I 'ought to' read (Kazuo Ishiguro, The Remains of the Day; Milan Kundera, The Unbearable Lightness of Being; and Arundhati Roy, The God of Small Things -- yes, I can on occasion be susceptible to middlebrow peer-pressure) and having read all the others I felt I ought to make the effort to read this at long last, in spite of all the Latin.
